Hi, my name is Freya. I am a Swedish-Irish artist, currently based in Ireland. My love and interest in nature, biology, and all things magical and mythical as well as my Irish/Scandinavian roots and folklore all strongly influence my work.
I graduated from the Limerick College of Art and Design 2024 with a First class honours Bachelor's Degree in Animation & Motion Design. Here i began the adventure of introducing motion to my characters and landscapes. If im not drawing, im thinking of drawing and that could likely be on a hill or in a wood somewhere.
My final year student short animated film 'Moncha' received three student awards, including from BrownBag Films, Piranha Bar and Windmill Lane. Moncha has also had the wonderful opportunity of being part of multiple festivals around the world, including Galway Film Fleadh, Waterford Film Festival, Sediocorto Italy, Multicultural Mental Health Film Festival Australia, and Dingle Animation Festival, where its been nominated in 6 categories.
I had my first solo art exhibition at the Bridge Gallery 2024 Co.Tipperary where i showcased a series of Peculiar beings and Mysterious things.
I love to explore both traditional and digital art making, be it characters, environments, or curious little woodland creatures. I have a particular fondness for old animation in all its graininess, colours, textures, and various imperfections, which I enjoy reintroducing into my own work.
